About BlankSage

We're building a better way to evaluate learning

BlankSage reads real answer sheets, applies your rubric the same way every time, and turns each evaluation into something a teacher can act on the next morning.

The problem

From evaluation to understanding.

Correction season stalls an entire institution. Thousands of sheets move through tired hands over several weeks, and what finally reaches the student is a number, long after the lesson it was measuring has passed.

We think the mark is the least interesting part of evaluation. The valuable part is everything a paper already knows and never says: which step broke, which idea did not land, and how many students got stuck in exactly the same place.

  • Same rubric on every sheet
  • A teacher approves every mark
  • Insight before the next class

What we believe

Three positions we build from

Every product decision traces back to one of these. They are also the fastest way to tell what BlankSage will never do.

01Authority

AI assists.

The model proposes, the teacher decides. Every mark BlankSage suggests arrives with the reasoning attached, stays editable, and carries the name of the person who approved it. We are not trying to remove the one who knows the class.

Nothing reaches a student without that second row.

02Judgement

Context matters.

A generic grader is a bad grader. The same answer is worth different marks under different schemes, so evaluation has to run against your rubric, your syllabus and the conventions your department already marks by. Context is the product, not a setting.

03Consequence

Evaluation should lead to action.

A score closes a paper. An insight changes the next lesson. We measure every feature against one question: does it change what a teacher does on Monday morning? If it does not, it is not finished.

What we're building

AnswersEvaluationInsightsBetter teaching

Not four disconnected tools. One pipeline, where a sheet enters as paper and leaves as something a department can act on, with nobody re-typing marks into a spreadsheet on the way.

Answers

Handwritten sheets, MCQ, code and typed submissions, scanned or uploaded as they are.

Evaluation

Your rubric applied to every paper the same way, with the reasoning shown for each mark.

Insights

Question, student and class level patterns, ready the moment marking is approved.

Better teaching

The next lesson planned around what the class actually missed, while it still matters.

Why BlankSage

Traditional evaluation vs BlankSage

Not a criticism of teachers, a criticism of the process they have been handed. Here is what changes when evaluation stops being manual labour.

Turnaround

Traditional

Weeks per exam cycle, and longer when staff are short.

BlankSage

Hours. Results reach students while the paper still matters.

Consistency

Traditional

Varies by evaluator, by mood, and by the hundredth sheet of the night.

BlankSage

One rubric, applied identically to the first sheet and the ten-thousandth.

Feedback

Traditional

A number, sometimes a tick. Rarely a reason.

BlankSage

Question level remarks a student can actually learn from.

Teacher effort

Traditional

Evenings and weekends spent marking from scratch.

BlankSage

Review and approve. The first pass is already done.

Insight

Traditional

Class-wide patterns surface after results are published, if at all.

BlankSage

Concept gaps visible before the next class begins.

Scale

Traditional

More papers means more people, more coordination, more drift.

BlankSage

The same workflow across departments, campuses and cycles.

Our mission

Make every evaluation more meaningful.

Millions of answer sheets are marked in India every year, and most of what they reveal is thrown away with the red pen. We want each one to leave something useful behind: for the student who wrote it, the teacher who marked it, and the institution that set it.

For teachers

Hours of correction handed back, every cycle.

For students

Feedback that arrives while the lesson is still fresh.

For institutions

One standard of marking, department to department.

Our journey

How we got here

Five turns that took BlankSage from a complaint we kept overhearing to the evaluation pipeline institutions run today.

  1. 01The observation

It started in a staff room, not a pitch deck.

Teachers kept describing the same fortnight: stacks of answer sheets, evenings gone, and a growing suspicion that the hundredth paper was not being marked the way the first one was. Nobody was asking for AI. They were asking for their evenings back.

  2. 02The hard part first

    Handwriting, before anything else.

Every shortcut in this space starts with typed text or bubble sheets. We started with what institutions actually have: real handwriting, in real conditions, with diagrams and equations in the margins. A tool that cannot read the paper cannot help with it.

  3. 03The correction

Teachers told us the score was not the problem.

Defending the score was. So evaluation became rubric-first and fully reviewable: every mark tied to a criterion, every suggestion visible and editable, and nothing published until a teacher signs off on it.

  4. 04Beyond the mark

The data was already there. It just had nowhere to go.

Once thousands of answers are structured, the patterns are unavoidable: the question everyone lost marks on, the concept a whole section never absorbed. Analytics stopped being a reporting feature and became the point of the exercise.

  5. 05Where we are now

Built alongside the people using it.

BlankSage is shaped release by release with schools, coaching centres and universities. They tell us when a rubric does not fit, when a report is missing a column, and when we have made something harder than the red pen it replaced.

Trust and security

Built for institutions.

Examination data is the most sensitive material a campus holds. We would rather explain exactly how it is handled than ask you to take it on faith.

  • Your data stays yours

Answer sheets and student records are processed to run your evaluations. Identifiable student data is not used for public model training without consent.

  • Restricted by design

Data sits on secure cloud infrastructure with encryption applied where applicable, and access limited to authorised systems and roles.

  • Nothing happens invisibly

Every AI suggestion shows the criterion it came from, stays editable, and carries the name of the teacher who approved it.

  • Records you can hand over

Structured evaluation records and exportable reports support the documentation institutions need for internal review and accreditation.
